If you’ve perused the upper level of our shopping centre, and happened to pass by Le Chateau, you’ve likely seen our beautiful Canada 150 art display. Designed and created by local graphic designer Michelle McBride, “A Tribute to Canada” isn’t on display in the mall for any old reason. Until May 31, you can enter to win a six-night stay at any Fairmont Hotel & Resort in your favourite city in Canada by simply submitting a selfie*. Okay, so it may not be quite that simple, but it’s pretty dang close!
Snap a photo in front of the art installation, post it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, tag @londonderrymall, use the hashtag #FacesOfLondonderry and voila, you’ve got your shot at a free Canadian vacation! With just two weeks left to enter the contest, we encourage all Edmontonians to make a trip down to Londonderry this weekend to take a few photos, enjoy a little shopping and possibly indulge in a few treats in the new food court.
But, with such an incredible work of art in the mall, we just had to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about it. Michelle McBride is a local graphic designer with over 20 years of unbelievable industry experience. From working in agencies to teaching abroad and designing 3 dimensional sets for stage productions, she’s done it all! We were incredibly fortunate to work with Michelle on this project, and we’re so pleased with the finished product. Made up of hardboard and wood materials, the Canada 150 art installation highlights three key areas of Canadiana; urban architecture, landscape and culture. You’ll notice familiar skylines, geographical references to Canada’s natural environment, and other Canadian themes that showcase animals native to our country, the VIA rail train, northern lights, iconic sports, recognizable monuments, indigenous heritage and more! With just one glance, we guarantee something from the display will catch your eye and make you feel proud to be Canadian - what better way to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday!
