Curated by local style experts, we’re giving you the chance to preview the most exclusive spring styles and trends right off the rack. From minimalism to floral to athleisure and flouncy fresh, you can get all the style inspiration you need by visiting the Rotating Rack on Saturdays March 18 and 25 from 12- 3 p.m. in the East Court. To give you a taste of what to expect, we’ve outlined the top six spring 2017 trends you can expect to see and wear all season long.
1. Athleisure

For the past few seasons now, athleisure has ruled the runway and this season is no different. You can expect to continue to see baseball caps, leggings, sliders and crop tops taking over the streets and your Instagram feeds. Athleisure is no longer restricted to your gym visits – instead this trend is perfect for an afternoon brunch with your girlfriends or a coffee date with your man. Not only will you be comfortable from dawn until dusk, but you’ll look just as chic too.
2. Minimalism

You heard the phrase “less is more” a thousand times before, but when it comes to the minimalism trend the phrase couldn’t ring more true. This trend is all about going back to the basics. Whether that includes wearing classics like a little white tee or black leather jacket, or simply dressing head to toe in one colour palette is up to you. However, in order to nail this look you need to be willing to shed loud patterns and bold colours and let your minimalist clothes to the talking. Trust us, they’re giving everyone major fashion envy.
3. Flora Botanica

April showers may bring May flowers, but when it comes to the fashion scene, floral is already in full bloom. Unlike other seasons where bright flowers rule, spring 2017 floral is much more subdued – think blushes, sage greens and white palm leaves. Flora Botanica is the perfect look to freshen up any spring wardrobe and make your closet feel anew.
4. Desert Sand

The desert is known for its scorching hot climate, and the desert sand vibe on the fashion runway is just as hot. From tan trenches to camel joggers and taupe boots, the neutral shades are everywhere – but seriously. Regardless of your skin tone, you can always find a shade that works for you. The only hard part will be stopping yourself from buying everything you see in your complimentary camel colour.
5. Weekend Casual

While the word ‘weekend’ is in the title, the looks associated with this trend aren’t simply reserved for Saturday and Sunday. From striped tees to light knits and denim, these pieces can easily transition into your weekday wardrobe. By pairing a t-shirt under a blazer or adding a blouse and heels to your denim you can effortlessly nail your business casual dress code. However, some of the pieces you’ll find on the Rotating Rack are definitely meant for your weekend escapades, but we promise whatever day of the week you wear this trend your outfit will be on point.
6. Flouncy Fresh

You may hear the words ‘flouncy fresh’ and wonder what the heck that means. This trend is all about the little details. From ruffled off-the-shoulder tops, to pleated skirts and fringe earrings, this look is light, airy and cool. This feminine trend is the perfect match to spring’s easy, breezy climate and makes dressing for the season much, more exciting.
Whether you choose to add floral patterns to your wardrobe or stick to minimalist basics, the Rotating Rack: Spring Edition will equip you will everything you need to have an #ootd worthy spring. Be sure to stop by the East Court on Saturday March 18 and 25 from 12-3 p.m. We promise the only regret you’ll have is not having more room in your closet.
