We are incredibly excited to announce that an exclusive Shop Canada Runway comes to Londonderry this month! The Shop Canada Runway is a curated retail incubator that welcomes eight new Alberta-based stores to the mall.
The Shop Canada Runway stores are set to open their doors later this month. As part of the Runway, we add Opulence, Kelly Wollf (formerly known as C’est Sera), Moltisanti, Continental Fine Shoes, LemonDress, Step In Shoes, Adesso Accessories and the first-ever PARK SHOP, brought to you by the talented team behind PARK. Meet the makers, owners and designers behind each of the stores by reading a few shop teasers below.
Brought to you by the founders of PARKSALE, PARKSHOW and PARKLUXE, PARKSHOP is a curated collection of the most successful lines and standout pieces Calgary-based entrepreneurs Jessie Li and Kara Chomistek have seen over the last 10 years. “This is a really great opportunity for us to showcase Canadian designers,” Li says. More than half the store’s products are Canadian-designed, and of those products, 75 – 80% are seasonal collections from designers. The remaining 25 – 30% is PARK collaborations; these are products and designs Li and Chomistek have created in partnership with designers, including a popular SPBDAU PARK fanny pack, a collection of knits for Edmonton designer Malorie Urbanovitch and maybe even a PARK bomber jacket.
Abdul Ahmed never intended to open a brick-and-mortar store. When the CEO and co-founder of Adesso Accessories launched his line of men’s products at adessoaccess.com in 2016, he and his business partners were trying to build a global e-commerce brand. But right now, Ahmed, along with co-founder and creative director Ayaz Raja and operations manager Lucas Anderson, are focused on building and serving their community.
At the Adesso Accessories shop in Londonderry Mall, customers can touch and try on the full Adesso line, which includes neckwear, pocket squares, belts, cufflinks, jewellery, socks, and wallets. It’s an opulent, inviting space with earthy colours, a mix of modern and classic features, and polished concrete floors — the perfect showcase for Adesso’s bold, fun, European-inspired aesthetic.
Step In Shoes
Step In Shoes recently shifted locations within the mall, but it didn’t go far. It moved next door to its original Londonderry location, to a larger, purpose-designed space where owner Leona Paush can showcase her high-quality, trend-forward product line. Customers at Step In Shoes will find an extensive selection of Toms, as well as Lacoste, Merrell, Ecco, Emu Australia and Birkenstocks. They’ll also find Manitobah Mukluks, an Indigenous-owned line of boots and moccasins, and Timberland styles - both brands that Paush brought into the store at the request of her customers.
Two years ago, Chinese designer Shijie Caitravelled to Italy for a meditation program and fell in love with a man she met there. She moved to Edmonton to marry her new beau, Iranian-Canadian Sina Khalilian. Together, they opened LemonDress. Cai and Khalilian’s new Londonderry boutique, which customers sometimes compare to boho retailer Anthropologie, has wooden racks hung with dresses, tunics, T-shirts and scarves. There’s a special section of gifts and accessories that Cai hand-selected from China, India, Nepal and Thailand, as well as women’s shoes and a line of Eastern- and Japanese-influenced cotton dresses for babies.
Continental Fine Shoes
With the help of his son Maurice, Chris Kalisa opened Continental Fine Shoes in Grande Prairie in 2015. Kalisa’s goal is to bring a curated line of affordable footwear all the way from Grande Prairie to Edmonton. Kalisa takes frequent international buying trips, choosing his shop’s entire product line based on quality and price. The first shoes Kalisa chose were genuine leather men’s dress shoes that sell for $125 a pair (or less). Next, he began to explore athletic shoes, winter boots and women’s shoes. Continental Fine Shoes now carries an immense range of everything from wedges and loafers to high tops and brogues. Customers will find more than 100 brands of men’s and women’s shoes including Viola, Marna, Sammy, Onelove, Paris and League, an athletic brand that’s new to North America but has a huge following in Europe.
In Moltisanti at Londonderry Mall, shoppers will find a bright, airy space with a “shop within a shop” concept that gives each brand its own dedicated space, including an amazing selection of Canadian designers. The layout was inspired by visits owner and president Neeraj Nikhanj made to iconic high fashion men’s stores in New York, Las Vegas and Toronto. “We feel it’s essential to represent each designer by having a dedicated section of our store for each brand,” Nikhanj says. “It’s very easy to find what you’re looking for.” And he’s thought of everything—there’s even a lounge area where shoppers’ companions can relax.
The new, 2,500-sq.-ft. KellyWollf store at Londonderry is an extension of owner and designer Kelly Campbell’s personal style. It has a simple, Scandinavian aesthetic—all whites and metallics—with fixtures hanging from the ceiling for an airy, rack-free feel. “It reflects what I’m inspired by,” Campbell says. She carries menswear and children’s clothing as well as women’s fashion, offering an eclectic range of items and price points, from $10 tops to $2000 suits. “You can buy your ball gown and you can buy sneakers. And you can wear the two together if that’s your style,” Campbell says.
Zoul Choucair describes Opulence as a “one-stop shop for the modern man,” and he’s not exaggerating. The shop’s Londonderry Mall location is a mini department store where men can find a range of designer clothing and accessories, from classic pieces to trendy, progressive street wear. Opulence carries a range of brands, from major international lines to local success stories, without compromising on quality. The shop includes big hitters like Hugo Boss, Versace, Bikkembergs and John Varvatos; denim from Rock Revival, Fidelity and True Religion; and leading Canadian brands like MooseKnuckles, Kollar and Kuwalla Tee.
